As a new dropcatcher, I am still tuning my catching app. Seems to be a fairly quiet period of good drops though.

But....

I can now hit the DAC pretty quickly, certainly much faster than the 60ms that a rolling 1000 DAC requests runs at. I want to try short, fast bursts to see how many requests I can make at full speed, and learn how to handle a block if the DAC blocks me.

Apart from the documented block for going over the 1000 in a rolling 60 seconds, is there any other problem? I mean do Nominet have a problem with people doing that, or do they just leave it to the DAC to block etc. according the rules?

They're the limits and the blocks are automated so you can pretty much do whatever you want, within the limits.

In the TOS if you over block you can have your DAC taken away

thanks aquanuke; it is more to test out my code (kid in the sweetshop etc) and to explore the limts, rather than making a regular thing of it.

np, this is what they say...

3.3.2. if you exceed your limit on multiple occasions, or seriously exceed your limit on one or more occasions, we may suspend or cancel this contract in accordance with clause 6.2.

When it blocks you the second field after status B tells you how many seconds you are blocked for.
I just made the script sleep () for that and restart
