Online safety tips should be like the latest gossip, they’re not something you should keep to yourself.
Knowthenet is pleased to once again support Get Safe Online Week, which this year has the theme of ‘Click & Tell’ with the aim of encouraging us to get up to date with the latest advice and pass it on to friends, family, colleagues, neighbours or even strangers.
Being online can make communicating, accessing information, buying and selling and many other tasks easier. However, it can also provide the ideal environment for negative activities such as fraud, identity theft, and bullying, which is why it's important to protect yourself.
We have a number of free interactive challenges where you can put your knowledge to the test on topics such as online law and scams. The huge rise of smart phones and tablets means it's also important to protect yourself when going online using mobile devices. We have a new online challenge called 'In the Dark' for you to put your mobile security to the test.
If you would like some simple tips and advice on other internet topics such as using social networks safely, staying safe when banking online, and spotting an internet troll then check out our new look Knowledge Centre which has lots of great information.
Find out more about Get Safe Online Week, which runs from 22 to 26 October 2012.
