I think what devalues a name is the amount of permutations of the domain message that can be registered.
So obviously the longer the word or the more ambiguous the message the more variations of that name can be registered. ( hence why one word exacts can be expensive )
With the new circa 1000 extensions it increases the permutations to such an extent that they will rarely be resalable. This of course is something that has not dawned on the uninitiated yet, but will do in the years to come.
In the future quality co.uk/uk and .com domains will rise in value as a result of the zillions of other names with unrecognised extensions which will become worthless in the reseller market.
.net is a great example.
So no not for me.
