HELP !!!!!!!!!

Domain name annonymous :

Hi, I'm here today to talk about my addiction to domain names.
From 7am to midnight i am on Acorn reading and reading, i actually look at the home page and press F5 hoping for something new ?

I will have 5 windows open at a time with Acorn/Sedo/Google keyword tool/Telivo/Google uk running at once.

I have lists of generics available to reg
I have a list of generics for sale on Sedo
I have 26 notes on my phone regarding domain names
My dream is to one day get my own Nominet tag
I am getting to know peoples first names on here
I can't talk on the phone to my family without mentioning domain names
My girlfriend barely gets a look in as i am stuck on my computer all day
I live in cyber world rather than the normal world

I think i need to see my doctor soon or a shrink

PLEASE, if you to are addicted to domain names don't sit in silence, the first step is to talk about it to a fellow addict
You must support each other and realise that addiction is a disease not just yourself losing control.

For further help please visit Domcare.com or call 0845 789689

Thankyou for reading and good luck !!!

NB* Systreg i know your struggling with your addiction so come forward my friend and speak out.

Pffft, speak for yourself, I have no such addiction, I only have 4 windows open, a scambaiting site, Acorn, Google keyword tool and a domain checker.

I hardly spend any time on Acorn, well only between the hours of 11:00am - 4:00am, when I'm pretty much constantly logged in here whilst doing other stuff, I keep refreshing periodically to see if any more new posts have been made.

Currently making up some reg fee lists, and looking for registered domains that will hit their renewal date within the next 4 months, and hopefully go to the drop dates, prior to which I will book some in with catchers.

You may be an addict, I'm not

It's like playing deal or no deal 24 hours a day, I love it.

I promised myself i would have a domain free day tommorow
Doubt it will happen though especially as i have a Nokia smart phone on the 3 network which runs brilliantly so having that in my pocket ( erm ? ) :D

Systreg : i am matching you on trader ratings, got to catch up with your amount of post though, maybe do some bumping lol ;)

GW : i'll have box number 17 Thanks :-?

Last year a day never went by with me not regging at least 1 domain.

The worse days are when you get an idea for a domain name and you then expand on it too much and start regging similar ones JUST in case.

I have cut back a lot recently which helps with me books too. (bloody invoices)

I have started putting sites on 90% of all domains regged too instead of them been sat there.

Make a promise............ If you reg you got to develop it that week and get your money back within a month!!

Should slow regging/buying down.

I find writing a list of things to do stops me going off on a whim and regging domains I hadn't intended to.

Set yourself a target to let's say develop a certain domain each night which keeps you away from random regs.

Update your profile list once a month and make sure each one is listed for sale somewhere.

Problem is i'm finding that i am regging names that i don't want to let go of, it's getting more personal

I did want to put some names with myaff sites but getting mixed vibes about that

I know what you mean about similar names, i find something and then want it in .com and .co.uk and the plural version and hyphenated.

The way i see it is don't reg the hyphenated version, if someone else nicks it that means your potentail buyer can no longer reg it and it saves you money

I've spent quite a bit and not put a lot of effort into making a revenue from them, i am literally £4 up ( no joke ) :(

I am pulling my finger out, earn money and stop regging everything ;-)

Admin : I'm going to spend more time developing and doing SEO work, got to stop going on registrars, i'll be better in September when i start studying web development, i can only make basic mini sites at the moment.

Like all addictions, the first 5 minutes are a real high, then you realise you've just bought some bad shit 'cos you hit terrible lows.

Whatever you do, dont buy that new stuff hitting the streets, the word is it's called TEL, and it really screws you up. My mate tried it last week, and he still feel like shit now!

Tried that myself last week, waste of of £15 and won't be taking that sort of hit again lol

Speaking from experience. Ensure your c/card is in an unobtainable place before sitting down to the pc after a few beers.

You have been warned

.

My name is Guy, i'm a domain addict. I have all of the above symptoms. It's worse though, i'm sat here dressed as frank n furter  :D

for the younger members, google it, if you dare  :D

It's funny, I told myself I should stop buying domains when my portfolio reached 500 names. And again at 1,000, 2,000 etc. and definitely at 5,000. Now that I have approx. 8,500 names it's getting quite unwieldy just keeping track of them all (thank goodness for Excel and Watch My Domains Pro) but I still have a back-of-the-mind resolution to cut back ;)

On the other hand, when I look back at the end of each month at what I picked up over the course of that month, it looks - to my biased eyes - like practically a license to print money, so I have to wonder "why stop now".

8500 is that all ? ;)
I bet Heart internet don't have that many lol
Hope you've merged all your accounts at Nominet ?

... 8,500 names it's getting quite unwieldy just keeping track of them all (thank goodness for Excel and Watch My Domains Pro)...

Is there anything like Watch My Domains Pro for Mac.

I have DoNA, Domain Tracker and Domainer (RAGE I think), but they are either lacking features or are buggy. Domainer has potential but crashes everytime for me.

Anyone know any other mac software for keeping track?

Only 2,500-ish of mine are .co.uk, so that side of things is fairly easy to keep track of. It's in .com and some of the other extensions that the number of registrars gets a bit crazy. I keep trying to consolidate, but there's always some reason or other why I can't simply move everything together...
