You saying you dont think that the .org.uk of the 2nd largest keyword in the sector (i think) is worth £900?

Nope, not saying that. Just saying that for a term that I would have thought was best aligned with .co.uk.

However, I've just had a look and there are a stonking number of searches on this term. 74000 uk exacts!

This is where I get a bit dubious about the uk exacts... especially where a lot of those searches must be for SEO optimisation.

But that just reinforces the benefit of an exact match on the keyword and so boosts the value of the .org.uk.

Good for .org.uk by the look of it.

Cheers, Luke

I was surprised by those searches as well. Especially compared to "private plate/s"

I would have thought "private plate/s" would have had much higher searches.

Those exacts have to be way out....

and here is my personal evidence for believing so...

private plates - 135,000 broad 12,100 exact (broad = 11 x exacts)
personal plates - 14,800 broad 1,300 exact (broad = 11 x exacts)

personal number plates - 74,000 broad 6,600 exact (broad = 11 x exacts)
private number plates - 90,500 broad 74,000 exact (broad = 1.2 x exacts???)

So why does private number plates not follow even close to these ratios?

Ofcourse this is only my opinion, but something doesnt look right!!!

Not exactly sientific, but I did some keyword testing in this area last month on MSN Adcenter (UK). I found that [private number plates] received an average of 81 impressions a day (2464 a month).

If we consider that Google has around 20 times the search market then we get around 50,000 exact Google searches a month.

That's quit interesting.

I wasn't saying that [private number plates] was incorrect, more so the difference between the terms. I would have assumed (without looking at keyword data) that [private plate/s] would have recieved higher searches.

Did you only test [private number plates] at the time?

Unfortunately not private plates.

Some others tested:

[personalised number plates] - 1551 searches a month - converts to around 31,000 google exacts (KWT says 49,500)

[cherished number plates] - 562 searches a month - converts to around 11,240 google exacts (KWT says 12,100)

[personal number plates] - 532 searches a month - converts to around 10,640 google exacts (KWT says 6,600)

This one went for less than I'd guessed it would. I was going to bid up to £1500 but when I seen who the top bidder was I decided I'm not going to either outbid Anthony, or drive up the price he ends up paying.

I think there is a great return in this domain at this price though, it doesn't look overly difficult to rank.

I've got these two if anyone's interested ;)
