Thanks for the offer mate but did you click the link? Seriously? It's a great market! ;)

£150 .....................

£250..........................offer good for 24 hours

Cheers

Ok, I've spoken to Rob privately to explain I can't let it go for 250 so this name will go back in the box unless anyone else has a better offer?

The potential resale market might not be as good as you think - so maybe that's why no big offers have been made.

Google "pink cufflinks" for example. It looks even better. ;) In fact add any word to cufflinks and you can convince yourself there is a huge market.

pinkcufflinks.co.uk is free to reg surprisingly enough.

Thanks for your reply but, with respect, you are wrong.

Firstly, you have said "pink cufflinks" in quotes. That gives 9040 results compared with 74,300 for "designer cufflinks" in quotes. So straight away what you have said is wrong. It doesn't look better at all.

Giving you the benefit of the doubt that you didn't mean to use the quotes...

Without quotes there are slightly more results for pink cufflinks than designer cufflinks but pink cufflinks is not a type of cufflink that carries a premium, designer cufflinks is. Lots of well know designers and fashion houses produce cufflinks that people want to buy and pay good money for.

Is anyone bidding on PPC for pink cufflinks? No. Is anyone bidding on PPC for designer cufflinks? Yes. If you look how people actually selling the products are using their ad spend, you'll get a good idea of the worth of a product.

For the record, I'm not expecting a large amount for this name, just more than has been currently offered.

Thanks

Firstly, you have said "pink cufflinks" in quotes . . .

I only used quotes in the message - I obviously didn't intend for people to use them in Google.

My point was the number of searches is higher for pink cufflinks than designer cufflinks. It doesn't mean there is a market for them. My message suggested there wasn't - hence pinkcufflinks.co.uk being available. I could have used any word - pink just came to mind - to show you that Google results by themselves do not a market make.

As for PPC, I think you'll find most advertisers are bidding on the one word cufflinks - whether they are pink, blue or designer isn't as important to those advertisers. Hence the large number of ads that appear on the search results for pink cufflinks.

The long tail for cufflinks isn't going to be huge so that one keyword takes on more importance.

Anyway, back to the name. How much more are you looking for than £250?

I understand your logic, and I know that the number of google results alone doesn't show the market but I didn't say to look at the number of results, I said look "take a look at the potential resale market" and provided a link to google's results of people selling designer cufflinks. The two are not the same.

As I've explained, Designer Cufflinks are a class of product that commands a premium, pink cufflinks isn't. Check the sites selling cufflinks and you'll see a number of them DO explicitly sell designer cufflinks.

It's like arguing designer clothes isn't necessarily any better than random clothes. Clearly it is.

Glad to see you are interested in the name though, as per my original message I'm open to offers.

I'm not arguing that pink cufflinks are any better than designer cufflinks. Read my posts again and you'll see I clearly say that there is no real market for pink cufflinks.

Your own logic would suggest that there WAS a resale market for pink cufflinks though based on search results, PPC ads and your link to them.

I know you are open to offers. I read your first post. My question was related to your later post in which you stated you're not looking for a large amount. How much are you looking for because I've no idea what a "large amount" is to you?

No it wouldn't, I don't know how you are reading that into what I am saying.

The fact is there are people actively selling Designer Cufflinks. They bid on the term and they show ads specific to designer cufflinks.

Compare the PPC ads for cufflinks with designer cufflinks and you will see there are specific ads for designer cufflinks which means there is a market for them and therefore a value in the name.

There are people showing ads promoting things like "Duchamp London Menswear", "Gucci Jewelry Collection", " Exclusive design: Babette Wasserman Vivienne Westwood, Stephen Webster", "Designer Cufflinks Mens Cufflinks From SEVEN London & Fred Bennett." etc etc

There are NO PPC ads showing ads for pink cufflinks. The only one to mention pink is Thomas Pink Shirts.

I haven't ever said there is a value in the name solely because of the number of search results. I simply said look at the link to google for the search and you'll see there is a value. I am presuming anyone looking knows what to look for (ie. people bidding on the term, people running ads specific to the term, the number of companies selling designer cufflinks etc). If you don't know what to look for then I'm sorry, but that isn't my fault.

It seems you have decided to pick an argument over something you think I have said, when I clearly haven't said that at all.

I know you are open to offers. I read your first post. My question was related to your later post in which you stated you're not looking for a large amount. How much are you looking for because I've no idea what a "large amount" is to you?

Put it this way, I'd be very happy if I got 4 figures for it.

You don't need to convince me that designercufflinks.co.uk is worth more than pinkcufflinks.co.uk - my posts should tell you that.

My point again is that a similar link that you gave to show that there is a great resale market for your domain name could be used to claim the same for any cufflinks name.

Maybe yours is worth four figures to someone, but not to me. I'm out.

No, it couldn't.

<bangs head against desk>

A similar link for other (random) cufflink names, using the reasons why I posted the link (which you are again choosing to ignore), would not show a great resale market.

I'll explain again. I didn't post it to say "look how many results google shows", I posted it to show that people who SELL designer cufflinks actively target the product, bid on the keywords, show ads with the keywords in, and show ads with designer names in. These are real ads by companies who make money from selling designer cufflinks. They are spending really money showing ads for them. This shows there is a market in designer cufflinks which shows there is a resale market for the domain name.

A similar link for pink cufflinks, or red cufflinks, or orange cufflinks, or surreal cufflinks would not show there is a resale market for those domain names because no one is specifically bidding on those keywords (only generic cufflink ads are showing), no one is showing ads specifically for those keywords and no one is specialising in those type of cufflinks.

I'm totally at a loss as to why you are pursuing this argument when you are so clearly wrong.

Maybe yours is worth four figures to someone, but not to me. I'm out.

I said I would be very happy if I got 4 figures, not that I expected it. But quite seriously, if you being "out" means you won't reply and carry on this futile argument, I'm more than very happy, I'm delighted.
