Does anyone know 'when you log into the DAC'

dac.nic.uk 2043

what shows up when you enter it sussesfully?

nothing........I think, you just get the cursor, waiting for you to enter the domain.

Yes and yes, just tried it myself to be sure.

just curious as i dont have access to the dac

whats the difference between whois.nic.uk and dac.nic.uk 2043

are they both the same, apart from

whois.nic.uk only allows you to perform one whois lookup and closes the connection

and whois.nic.uk closes the command prompt/telnet if a domain is avaialble or a .com/.net etc anything other than UK domains

(One last thing, is the whois.nic.uk and the dac.nic.uk the same layout once your in, its just a blank page which you can't see what your typing etc?)

thanks again

The DAC and the whois server are different entities. A query issued to whois.nic.uk returns a result like this under a unix client without connection to the DAC:

Using the DAC, this information is presented as a one-liner described by the poster above.
