I'm quite possibly the laziest affiliate going, so I don't expect to make millions through my affiliate sites, but sometimes wonder what I'm doing wrong! One of the merchants I promote on Affiliate Window is supposed to have a conversion rate 1.77%, yet I've average 0.33% over the last three months. I don't think the traffic I send is too bad...

How do your conversion rates compare with the networks advertised figures? Given mine, those of you who put the effort in must be holding the average up?

One of my affiliate companies has said my conversion rate is one of the highest they have (and there are tons of affiliate marketers for this company)

I love the design and creation - which in this case I think has helped - but my issue (and boredom threshold) though is marketing and promotion, so although a steady flow of people it's nowhere the volume I'd like it to be (have reasonable traffic from the exacts and SE position but nothing more indirect or 'out of the box' marketing traffic)

Don't read too much into network stats - they are skewed by three sources of traffic:

#1. Brand Bidding Groups

#2. Voucher Code Sites

#3. Cashback sites

The traffic from these three sources converts like magic, so will skew up stats. For many, many merchants these will be their primary sources of traffic.

Comparing traffic from a content site to these is like comparing apples and oranges.

That said - there can be many reasons why your traffic converts poorly (for example: if you trick users into clicking affiliate links without telling them).

If you want to share specifics, feel free and I'll offer my $0.02.

Cheers Rich, I don't think I'm doing anything sneaky, so the first part of your explanation sounds on the money.

One reason could be that your traffic or leads is not targeted to the product you are promoting. You should try promoting diverse products and check where your conversion rates are at best. By then you can figure out what kind of product that you will be promoting to help them or their business.
