Have just started putting the pieces of a technology blog together and am looking for partner(s) and or article contributors.

The technology blog is called Future Junk and you can find out a little more about the plans at gadget blog.

In a nutshell once the forum and blog is completely put together at Future Junk there will be a revenue sharing model with adsense and possible other models where everyone who contributes worthwhile content to the technology blog is rewarded.

Am interested to hear people's thoughts on this especially if anyone has used ad revenue sharing mods, or has done a similar project in the past.

Let me know if you can contribute at least an article a week to the tech blog.

I like the idea - I take it that you mean to give people a block of Adsense, instead of paying them for writing the article.

That being the case - I can't promise a regular contribution, but I can probably do a couple for starters.

In the immortal words of Tommy Cooper -

He said "How long do you want them?"

And I said "I want to keep them!" - just like that!

I like the sounds of it covering more than the 'traditional' tech stuff.

As crabfoot says, how long are artciles?

Thanks Tommy (I mean Crabfoot) and DW.

I'm still trying to work out all the details but I was thinking from 300 - 1000 words per article. What do you think?

Would really like this to be a successful project and it's just startng so anyone who wants to help out other than articles let me know - I'm still trying to find revenue sharing pugins for wordpress and the forum.

Tech Blog Contributors

I just wrote a post on Apple's App Store - short and sweet - only about 200 words, but I think that's ok... what do you think? Should 200 words for a tech article be sufficient - I'm now thinking that a 1000 word tech article might make my eyes bleed!

Well, Gloss,

for blog posting, I think 200 is too short, and 1000 is too long.

350 is a read, 700 is the limit, unless it is really informative - or, unless you can split it to make coherent parts.

340 min, 700 max. Aim at 350 to 500 per post.

regards,
Cra ig.

I agree the apple one is a little short.

Not written many articles recently but will have a go at writing something tomorrow and see how many words look reasonable.

Thanks Craig and DW -

I'm still trying to figure out an adsense sharing plugin that will work for WP 2.9.1 (and possibly a sharing plugin for SMF - the forums)

This really is the key to the revenue sharing, but I just can't find anything that seems stable for the versions of the software...

Seems like there are a few sites out there doing ad revenue sharing in this way - I just don't know if they are using custom mods or are using old plugins and software versions.

Nexus One - Future Junk

Have just written about Google's new phone, the Nexus One.

I need to work on the writing style but 'tech' content is filling up the site a bit.
The article came out to 502 words - and a few images. I think that it's a nice fit.

Author Adsense Revenue Sharing mod now installed

Future Junk is now an adsense revenue sharing, technology, ideas & life blog !
(I finally managed to tweak a mod to get the revenue sharing working)

Really simple, you can register as an author and then there is a section where you add your adsense publisher id and two google_ad_slot codes.

I will be putting together a quick guide later today for people interested.

Any blogpost/article you submit at Future Junk will now show 3 Google Adsense units linked to your account 50% of the time. So you earn from any clicks half the time.

*Those of you familiar with adsense will have no trouble with this. You will need to create 2 ads in your adsense account (can have them as 2 channels) and in the code google gives you there will be your publisher id and the google_ad_slot ... this will all be explained later today in a quick guide - but there is nothing to stop you from registering and starting to draft technology or ideas articles. ;)

Technology Blog Revenue Share with Writers

Ok - This is all set up and the last bits of tweaking have been done.

I've written a short guide on how to contribute to the technology blog and earn adsense revenue.

In a nutshell you have to have an adsense account and set up 2 ad units in your own account (see the guide).

You then copy take the google_ad_slot code from each and enter them together with your publisher id in the Future Junk Control panel.

Anyone interested in being a part of this should take a quick look at Future Junk and register. Don't forget to read the attached guide because the ads you set up in adsense must have a particular format.

This will then put 3 adsense blocks on the same page as your article (50% of the time it will include your id and you make revenue from any clicks)
