Common Images of Mobiles

Don't know why I'm asking this since at the moment all my sites are down thanks to Hostgator having massive problems, but let's say you've got a site all about mobile phone reviews.

Obviously you'll want to have a picture or two of the mobile phone that you're reviewing for example, but do any of the brands (such as Samsung) provide images of their popular phones to be used freely? Surely it's a win-win situation for everyone if they do this, since I'll get an image and they'll get some publicity.

On another note, never use Hostgator. I'm expecting all my sites to stop ranking (even though they aren't ranking for much at the moment) and I can't even access my emails. They've been great for years but they've taken a turn for the worst.

Maybe you could. I just want to do everything 100% legit with this site so don't want to "steal" any images. Wonder if fair use would mean that you have to link back to their site. To be honest I'd probably link to the brand's site anyway.

They've literally just came back online a few minutes ago, although it's still a bit slower than usual. Was offline for around an hour.

The funny thing is that I won't be using affiliate links for the moment. Good idea though.

It's a long story but I can't use affiliate links for this particular site. I know that sounds weird but for this site I can't.

In some rare cases, maybe.

Many companies have images under their "media relations" or "press" section, if you dig deep enough.

For example, Samsung's are here...

You need to read their T&C carefully to determine what constitues "fair use" but that would be my first port of call if I were you!

I'd ring the companies up, I was talking to Nokia and Motorola quite regularly whilst I was attempting to set up a price comparison website.

This was a few years ago and then they were prepared to send me handsets for review so no doubt they would let you have images of their product, remember their goal is to shift boxes, so talk to them direct and they will be helpful (not sure about Samsung though, could never get through and they never called back!)
