Did anyone used to collect anything?

Ive just started getting out my cigarette cards and bubblegum cards. Although none of my family actualy smoke I used to collect them as a kid (from about 6 years old to 12)

They have been hiddin away since then. 10 years later and I have them out to see what they are worth now. I remember trading them at fairs and even having ago in the auctions at that age, brings back some memories :)

The folders are just full of set after set, taking a while to check them all.

I have some quite rare sets, really really old and in mint condition. Looking like a really good investment at the moment as I go through them and compare the prices.

Nice collection. I used to have a lot of the bublegum cards. I sold a set of american civil war ones a while back and made a few bob. Used to have the original star wars ones too.

I used to collect records, had about 10,000 but sold them all off as I was moving house.

ex-girlfriends.....

I don't keep them in the attic though!

Cigarette cards - what circa did they get produced?

1880 to 1940 where they ceased because of the war and the costs of including them in the pack.

They were originaly used as stiffeners for the paper cigarette packets and someone thought it would be a good idea to advertise on them.

Cheers.

I think my Grandmother use to collect these. They're in the loft at the moment. Where would be the best place to gauge value's and/or demand in the aftermarket?

When i was younger upto like 11 years old i had hundreds of Kinder egg toys but still had them at 13 years old and on display all over my mams flat

One day i thought erm ? this looks sad and picked all up and just chucked them in the wheelie bin lol

I use to collect PG tip cards when i was like 7 - 10 years old, don't know what happened to them ?

I now have for future investment purposes, several top condition 1970s' and 1980s' football programmes and loads of mint condition bank notes from all over the world and one very good condition Matchbox vehicle from 1972 and a very good condition Bruce Lee vinyl lp from ???

Anyone collect domain names ?

Credit cards. I have them going back to the 80's - all in my name. Have enough to tile a wall - I have one of which only ~4000 were issued in the UK. Doesn't seem to be much of a market in it, but I'm holding :)

yeah, always been into stamps.
few coins over years, not much but done alittle metal detecting over years too

worth mentioning 'anoraks.org.uk' is for sale, perfect for a geeky collector/hobbyist site :D

Whitefriars glass and panini football albums, and anything to do with Leicester Tigers here.
