Not so much a question, but just wanting to expand on a current dilemma.
As some of you know, I have been talking about a monster sized domain that will drop in the future. I won't say when, but only that I know it will drop, so I've been monitoring for over 6 months now.
I already have the domain loaded on all catch services that allow bookings prior to 'renewal required'.
The problem I have, is that by the time I can book with all the public catchers, others will be aware of the domain so I'll be in no greater position than I am when finding a decent domain on a 60 day list etc.
I also don't want a situation where I have the .uk and not the .co.uk, or visa-versa.
Plus I have to be realistic, every professional domainer will be using every single one of their polling limit to catch this domain when the time comes.
I've tried contacting the domain holder directly, but so far have had no success. Not because they are not interested in selling or discussing, but because they are a large company and the message just isn't filtering through to the right department (yet!). I suspect even if it did reach the man in charge, the offer I'd make would be so small in comparison to their profits, that they'd just decline.
Can anyone think of any other options to secure the domain (which will remain nameless)? You will all want it, so I can't see there being an option of asking private catchers.
So frustrating as I've been watching it for ages and I could 100% use it for a project whilst retaining the domain as a significant asset for the future.
