There's a drop on the 4th(edit) of March that's tickled my interest. The offer is £100 (increased) no catch no fee.

PM me to setup arrangements. Cheers!

Edit: Increased catch offer to £100

What is it about the 6th of March? That's the second drop-catch request for that day. Sure, there's some nice stuff dropping then - but I presume all the obvious names will already have been long since booked everywhere...

And no private catcher will offer to catch the "nice stuff" for £80. Well I wouldn't :)

I figured as much, but I thought I'd ask:D Still feeling my way around this game till I get tagged up.

That's becoming more evident...it'll be interesting to see who finally catches this retail name.

One catch offer's been received. Any more?

Of course they won't. And all the public-facing drop catchers will have been long since booked up if the name's half-decent...

If its desirable they won't have a chance due to being booked up with all and sundry. Some of the stuff caught by retail catchers I would think you could hand reg sometimes.

Which is what brought me on here. The name I want is probably only half-decent but it's in a sector I'm fond of.

One backorder's been placed. Could be an easy £80 if you haven't got much on the 6th. Any more takers?

This business of catching names that are dropping is so tricky given that the private catchers have spent 100's of hours tweaking their code and access speeds. Good luck to them.

I might consider using a public-facing catcher for a name that might otherwise be available as a hand-reg if I have happened to spot that it is suspended, but I don't look for suspended domains specifically.

I can see why some people write to the registrants of suspended names - their chances of getting a good name may be better that way than try to catch it.

(Off topic but related) where are these lists for 6th March :)

You have to laugh dont you? I mean, you can see why the 6th was in the minds of many, but did anyone really expect lillte old gazette.co.uk & insolvency.co.uk to drop on that day? They're both registered to seperate limited companies out of the same London address, and both companies have maintained regular & up to date filings at CH. Oh well, it caused a little bit of anticipation I suppose!

While asking for those at 80-100, I'll see if Bluerock wants to sell me his LL for reg fee :p

Probably, they certainly looked like the best apples on that date!

I got the date wrong, it should have been the 4th. I was after buyart.co.uk.

You seem to leave a lot of these types of messages. I think it's perfectly reasonable to offer what I did for a catch.

Zac, without knowing what names you wanted, people speculate it was 'cherries', and based on the 'likely' cherries of that day which was posted above.

The catch fee was disproportionate.

However now, knowing your actual choice, I agree your offer was reasonable.

I can see why catchers will be peeved off at a meagre proposition for a "cherry" rather than selling it themselves.

Anyway, my inexperience and affiliate marketing-bias lead me to pick non-premiums domains.

Just out of interest, how much do you think gazette.co.uk and insolvency.co.uk would sell for in a quick sale? Perhaps on domainlore.

Yes, saw that in your post above mine. I was referring to the reason why the 6th was of interest generally, and why those two particular names were unlikely to have dropped. ;)

Bids were running on DomainLore, but they were mutton prices for lamb!
