What do you guys reckon to this name ?

I can see the ad now - No expense spared, a duff virtual supermarket, a cheesy Z-lister, a trolley full of A-list opportunities, rounded off with some annoying checkout music :)

Any ideas for an end user to approach ?

Cheers.

I'm not so sure about this one.

Building a career is not the same as buying beans.

I'd suggest there are far more profitable domains out there........Sorry:sad:

Great stuff.

Thanks for those thoughts guys.

RSK3000, yes these supermarket names certainly do seem counter-intuitive, I personally feel they work, somehow (perhaps its all that marketing spend !!) - have you seen the ads for moneysupermarket ? Their big marketing budget certainly help things. I suppose a supermarket is synonymous with choice (and beans !).

DomainAngel, your advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to offer some insight.

I don't suppose there's a thread somewhere on the proper way to research and approach endusers ?

Incidently, I actually don't have the .co.uk :(. Bizarrely, they didn't reg the .com and the .co.uk is a re-direct. I might be cheeky and approach them - or offer to buy the .co.uk !

Thanks again.

I suppose the thing is that it is a brandable - its not a bad one. However, if you had told me that you wanted to build a jobs site and asked me what domain to use, Career Supermarket would not have been my first choice.

Having said that, someone will now buy it off you for good money, and turn it into a multi-million pound jobs portal!

Either that or I'll ring after 5 and sell it to the cleaner :)

Thanks, DomainAngel, for all your thoughts. Clearly, salesmanship, perseverance and some good old common sense are the key. Oh, that and having a decent name.

Calling later in the evening seems a great idea. When you speak to 'gatekeepers', even when they pass messages on they often frame things negatively don't they, to reaffirm their own impression ?

'You're not interested in buying this are you ? No.' etc.

Thanks again for your advice. Great perspective.

Cheers.
