all new to me, buying premium domain?

hi people, i am after a certain domain, the .co.uk is no prob however the .com is coming up as a premium isnt a major amount to be honest but i am wondering why and what makes that domain a premium domain when i can add a "s" to the end of it and get it for a few quid? should i waste money in the premium name and what and who decides the worth of a domain? oh and yes i am kinda new to domains but my little side job is now becoming like a main job so i thought i should invest in a website domain since word of mouth is going so well i can only hope a website will add to this, thanks for reading!

Essentially domain names can be registered by anyone (in most countries anyway!). Once a domain has been registered it basically becomes the property of that person and it is entirely up to them what that asset is sold for, should they wish to sell it.

So the name you are seeing come up as 'premium' probably just means that it is already registered and the owners desired price is a couple hundred quid. The plural of the name is cheap purely cause it isn't registered yet and therefore all you pay is the reg fee.
