Basically .eu registrations require a new agreement with the registry after a sale to a new owner - so they cancel the existing registration and reregister to you (so you lose any registration time and the new reg is for one year).

I have used Domainmonster for these transfers without a problem.

Thanks Ty I'll give them a try now. It’s unbelievable how many support people at various hosting company’s have no clue on the .eu trade process.

No problem, happy to help.

I bought a bunch of .eu names through Sedo last year and it took me weeks to find out what exactly I was supposed to do to get hold of them.

Sorry to be a pain did you have to ask them to do a trade or did you just start a normal transfer.
Domainmonster support tell me my transfer automatically becomes a trade as the admin names are different.
I’m not sure this is the case eurid.eu do seem to list trades and transfers as to different process on their site.
It could also just be my sedo transfer rep who has it wrong as every company I contact about this all tell me I need to start a transfer rather than the trade.
It’s no wonder people don’t deal in eu's dam pain in the ass.

DomainMonster are correct in this instance. The transfer will automatically become a trade (but only with the way they run their own system).

You just need to keep an eye out for the transfer emails and make sure you click on the authorise links, or the trade won't go through.

UK transfers used to be a pain in the ass too (and com etc), but I'm sure it'll get easier for EU, then having good names might be a bonus ;)
