Hi, once you have agreed a sale, providing it's a .UK domain, you would pay the seller, they then transfer the domain to you via their control panel at Nominet, that sends an email to you, click the link in the email and follow the instructions, the buyer usually pays the Nominet transfer fee (£10 + VAT) and it will take you through the payment process after clicking the link, you will need a credit or dedit card for that, Nominet does not accept PayPal.

As soon as you have paid the transfer fee, the domain is now yours and you will be issued with a Nominet account for that domain to administer it.

At the same time, you can set the TAG of your registrar during the transfer process, you can then transfer the domain in to whatever registrar you are using, on 123-reg.co.uk for example, it's free to transfer in .UK domains, so if you had an account at 123-reg, during the domain transfer process, you would set the registrars TAG as 123-REG and then transfer the domain to your account on there after completing the transfer.

I would advise doing a brief bit of diligence on the seller namely:

- do they have 'red' dots by their username? if so avoid.
- do they have a 'trader rating', if so have a read
- search their old posts, see who they are
- good their company / their name
- check the whois for the name matches the seller's name
- ask in thread if anyone can vouch for the seller if they are new

The vast majority on here are great, but its worth checking out the above , and if in doubt ask questions :)

Just to clear this up i wouldnt need to priorly register at nominet that would happen in the process then use that info from then on.

No, you don't need to register at Nominet, you are automatically given an account and password there when registering or transferring a domain.

Thank you and say i was to buy a domain for £10 i would need to pay this ontop "the buyer usually pays the Nominet transfer fee (£10 + VAT)"

Yes :)

Yes,whether you buy a domain off someone for £10, £100 or £1000, you still have to pay the £10 Nominet transfer fee on top of that.
