Hi guys,

I need help determining the value of this domain. (www.boomtech.co.uk)

I have had it since 2010 (on and off) when me and my friend started a small gaming business at 15.

Since then it has never been touched and has just been auto renewed with a blank website on it.

Recently a buyer contacted me offering £25 for it. After saying I wanted more, she offered £50.

Do you think that this is worth it? or is there any hidden potential I am not seeing with this domain name.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Hi sorry 1 more thing. FreeValuator valued it at £58, Estibot:$113, and godaddy:$16-$64. Cheers!

I don't see much value in the domain, but if someone has gone to the trouble to track you down and contact you to purchase the domain, they can afford substantially more than £50. I'd try to figure out who was making the approach and why, then price from there.

For what it is worth, Boom.Tech is priced at $13,000 *per year* at Godaddy. That is a comparable you could use, then show how much more reasonable your pricing is.

Hi Atlas,

Thanks for the reply!

Unfortunately, she kept here tracks very well hidden. All I know is she bought "boomtechcamps.com" a few days before inquiring about my domain, and she lives in Hertfordshire UK.

I just want to make sure I don't give up what could be quite a valuable domain. However, I am a student and £50 would be great.

ah I should have said it was his wife who contacted me! Yeh I will probably put my foot down and ask for more or just keep hold of it. Would £149 be reasonable? Thanks for the advice.

I'd say it is worth zero, so the key here is to maximise profit without being greedy. Reverse back, if someone had offered you £50 for it, or even £100, would you have taken it? If the answer is yes, don't get dragged down by the details; buyers vanish more often than not.

Have a look at domainprices.co.uk to see what domains go for.

Don't underestimate the value of a strong brandable domain to a business.

Perhaps search for some guidance on negotiation skills ;)

Always Worth doing your Homework - when an inquiry you wasn't expecting comes out of the blue. A Couple of hours work usually pretty much sum things up. NOW you've got to pretend you don't know.- which becomes the Hard-bit :)
