I was just about to purchase a new mobile and I've had my eye on the Blackberrys as I've had one in the past and it just works. Exchange Email ect. works great on it and they are an all-round brilliant business mobile.

Anyway to cut the story short I had the 9780 in my basket on amazon ready to purchase but before I did I thought I'd just check the BB website and lo and behold they have just announced the 9900.

It will come with;

8GB Internal
1.2Ghz Processor
720p HD Video
5-megapixel camera
Os 7 (not yet released)

I'm not usually fussed about phones as I just get the right phone for the job. However, any phone must be able to last me at least 3-4 years and be pretty much newly released (To prevent it coming seriously outdated). Lucky I didn't press confirm order.

I am due an upgrade but have held off waiting for this very phone.

I have always preferred the size and look of the 9000, this new version is based around the model, but with the advantage of touchpad AND touchscreen plus ofcourse the all new software and hardware.

Just hoping Orange start stocking it soon...

I currently have the 9700 with OS6. As a big Blackberry fan and having mine for more than 12 months now I was about to go to a 9780 but to be honest, with OS6 on mine there is just no point, mine runs perfect.

Only thing that puts me off the 9900 is the touchscreen. I did prefer the ease of use of the 9000 keyboard size and better screen but found the 9700 much more pocket friendly.

I am just now trying to stop myself changing for the hell of it, mine is still like new and does everything I need, plus there always seems to be a new BB model in the wings and you could go on forever.

I have an iPhone and the 9700, both great phones but I enjoy using the Blackberry. The new 9900 reads well on paper. Looks pretty similar. Could be a winner, look forward to upgrading the other BB soon.

Get over to a decent HTC. I was once an avid BB user.... but the difference is night and day.

Give it 1-2 weeks to get used to the touchscreen and I bet you would not go back.

Agreed - HTC Desire HD is a corker. Highly recommended. At the end of the day most phones on the market do the same job, in different ways, comes down to finding a user interface you can get on with. I was never much a fan of a touch screen, opting for a blackberry. 3 years ago I had some home automation done and had some touch panel displays around my old house. Since then and using an iPhone and now the iPad and various other touch screen bits and bobs has become second nature. A phones a phone to me, makes calls. My 3yr son enjoys the iPhone's camera/facetime, he uses it more than me. In our household, technology has to pass the 'being launched across the room' test.

Same here, I used to love BB, But since having the HTC HD I would never go back, Does all the things a BB does (and a hell of a lot more) and does it all a lot better.

To be fair I did try the HDC HD7 last January but it decided to balls up when connecting to my Mac.

+ Anything that I wanted to put onto it i.e music had to be converted with some sync software or something.

Is that the windows phone the desire hd is pure android and no converters needed for normal music mp3 the trouble might be from the mac and the pretentious style over functionality that apple seem to be so fond off.

Yep, it was the Windows HD7. Ah well I took it back to the O2 store about a week after I bought it.
