this is really a follow on from Mats thread but didn't want to hijack his ,i have nearly completed a payday loans site and wondered how too market the site,i was thinking of leaflet drops and radio adverts but wouldn't know where to start and how much too spend,i get £40 per application accepted and what percentage of the sales would you plough back into the advertising,i was also thinking of which area would be better,a affluent area or more council estate,i am also thinking of enquiring about putting leaflets into the local rag,any ideas would be appreciated, cheers

Someone made the point in the other thread about trying out different things and using a slightly different domain name/URL for each one. Then you'll know from that which is the most effective by comparing the traffic rates.

Don't forget to use Mr Doddle if you need some full colour double sided flyers :)

do you create flyers then bb99 ?,somebody has knicked the other extensions since i registered mine....:( ,what about the law....,there was a big thing about posting junk mail through doors a few month ago do you have to register with the council or something?,i used to have a part-time job canvassing houses for double glazing a some of the things you see is unbelievable.....

I know some councils require you to have a permit in order to hand out flyers/leaflets in the street - I'm not sure on the rest though.

You'd really need a designer to create the artwork for you, we tend not to do much design work. If you can hold your own in Photoshop or Illustrator you'll be fine...

Wildfires and Promostar are two promotional staffing agencies, others can be found at a the promotions agency directory.

Promotional staffing agencies can arrange leafleting staff for town centres, as bb99 pointed out some councils require permits although most dont at the moment. Some permits can be very expensive.

I've worked with a high street cheque cashing/loan place along with injury lawyer services on high street promotions. It can be very effective. You can have the promotional staff wearing branded cas and t-shirts, with bags, and clipboards.

You'll have the promotional staffing costs along with your printing costs and any postage/delivery costs for the leaflets.

The good thing about it is that it is personal. I don't think that face 2 face marketing will ever disappear. Also you have the opportunity to take a name/number/email etc from potential leads to follow up and then give them a leaflet, or their kids a branded balloon to walk around town with.

some very good ideas there, with councils charging for hitting the streets....:(,they will start charging for oxygen taken soon,we will all have little meters, the parking ticket idea sounds good,my local authority has nothing on the back of there tickets and it says if you would like to advertise hear ring blah blah blah, does anybody have any ideas on price....

See if you can do a deal with your local CashConverters branch or similar shops and get some ads stuck up where you know the type of people who would be interested in payday loans might be.
Get round the local factories, stand outside at closing time 10 days before the end of the month!!
Leaflet all the council/ex-council estates. Leaflets are an ongoing thing though so you´d need to have an ongoing budget.

Hi Paulc, Pm me who it is ;) I deal with them as a supplier (service contract) and was actually there today!

I haven't used them myself but thought a shout wouldn't hurt for them and wanted to highlight the fact that ticket advertising IS over looked and must be affective for certain sectors. Just look at Mc Donalds, and Theme Parks!!
