Appreciate Appraisal : webmasters4u.com

hi all,

can any one tell me how much they think it is worth.

I bought the domain to use use as advertising space, but some how the use change. I am now going to use it to sell, small simple sites, designed by me, to trades people. For information only, no ecommerce.

you can see it

http://www.webmasters4u.com

I now im not the best designer in the world! but belive i can deliver these simple pages with little fuss.

Please tell me what you think. You can be as mean as you like:mad: or as kind :D . but please be honest.

How can i improve its searchabilty on google?

Also im thinking of offering space for advertising on the site for free, as long as i can advertise on their site for free. What do you think?

Many thanksfor reading this thread

You'd have to pay me to take it off you (and you pay transfer fees!).

Paul has already given you some very good advice in another thread. Take it!

not sure what other advice you have been given, but if aqls thinks its worth following then i would do so :)

i would not rate the domain either dont get discouraged we all buy a % of names we regret its all part of the process i supose.

killaclown55.

Having been perhaps a bit harsh here is an attempt at redress.

To me webmasters4u doesn't mean much.

If it means anything to someone typing it in, it means a place where I would find webmasters if I happened to be looking for them.

I don't therefore think that the domain name fits the cheap design and hosting site that you have positioned the site as.

If I were to develop the domain I would perhaps create a site where webmasters could be found, either by starting a forum for webmasters, or by starting a site where webmasters and programmers could auction their services a bit like:
www.rentacoder.com
www.ifreelance.com
www.codelance.com
www.expertsexchange.com

Or - having just seen the number of such sites - provide a directory or comparison site for these sites.

Or finally I would position it as a straight jobsearch human resources site for IT webmasters.

In the copy I would make it particularly suited to webmasters rather than any IT professionals and perhaps specialise in just one OS as an example.

Now depending on your skill level, or to what extent you want to develop the site you could take it two ways.

Either spend say 4 or 5 days setting up the site with some articles and posting/wiki boards, or spend much more time making it into a serious site.

If you choose the former, add adsense ads and appropriate affiliate links - e.g. have a look at www.a4uforum.co.uk which is the centre of the universe for affiliate programs.

Write some articles and post them to several content syndication sites - like those posted at the end of this post.

Add some rss feeds as Acorn have done on this site:
http://www.acorndomains.co.uk/forum-news-feedback/4054-rss-news-feeds-ad-news-bot.html

Also put some links inward from some high GooglePR ranking sites.

You may be able to get a few dollars a month with very little extra effort on your part.

If you choose to develop the site into a fully blown site then you may be able to make more money but at the expense of a lot more effort.

In my opinion, the domain is not good enough to put in too much extra effort, but that is your call.

Good luck.

hi all,

Thank you very much for you help.

I'm going to think about it, before i do anything. I got lots to consider.

many thanks

One more thought, to start on a subject where all the people that come to your site know more than you might not be the best strategy. No one is going to buy web design from a beginner. (Sorry but it may save you a lot of time.)

My suggestion would be buy another domain name related to a subject you know about then create some content and a simple site design. Start with about 10 pages and make each page about 3-500 words long. Write your copy so it's focused, if for instance it's about buying domain names then talk about how you research, where you buy, where you sell, how often you make sales, some of the well known big sales, trademark issues, and so on.

Also decide on what your main keyword/s for that page is and make sure you include some of the alternative words and phrases that could refer to those words. i.e. 'buying domain names' you could include the following words in your content:

buying: buy, buyer, buyers, buyer's, prices, pricing, shopping, leasing, ordering, purchasing

domain: domains, hosting, register, site, url, web, host, net, website, whois

names: meaning, named, name, naming, registration, dns, domains, filename, identity, surname
