Wanted: Domain Appraisal Appraisal - iow / co / uk

Any thoughts on iow / co / uk ?

I was thinking of create an Isle of Wight portal along the lines of isleofwight.com - taking commision from accomodation / ferrys / tourist related Affiliates.

Would benefit from some nice subdomains too;

ferries.iow
hotels.iow
restaurants.iow

Any ideas for a price as it stands now as just the domain?

I can see it being worth so much more if you develop it in that way.

Seeing as some of it's Prenom history is reflected in the whois, i presume it was the subject of a protracted transfer process from Marshall Cavendish Ltd, and that Nominet allowed some extra time for this to complete!

I guess that everything has a price, I would always listen to offers.

That said, I am busy planning a site around the name, especially as the Island had 2.7m visitors in 99

its no different from starting from scratch with isle-of-wight.org.uk etc buf if you manage to get a few people on for £10 a pop good stuff, would have to be lots to ad real value to the name.

im not fond of applying massive price tags to names based on future speculation :mrgreen:

If you go there you will find its more commonly reffered to as IOW ie all the road signs, tourist info, even the piggies have IOW police on their cars

Where as I live in London and have never seen anything with LDN on it

I don't disagree that it will make a great IOW site becuase it will its a great name for an isle of wight guide. What im saying is to really add value you need paying clients, and getting Decent number of paying clients means having good serps & traffic etc. Because of the (established) competion this might be hard work. Theres a lot of people who want a slice of the tourisim/travel cake, but if you are in it for the long term go for it.
