Anyone here use an apple for webdesign ?

I've got an iBook but I don't use it for web design stuff. I'm sure there is some good software out there (there must be) but I've never used any.

I was looking on the Apple website the other day and I noticed that they've released iLife 2006 which includes a new web design package... But it looks like it's all template based. The templates are nice, but probably not what you're looking for.

they were always considered the main tool for serious graphic and media appluications, software like quark express is an industry standard but i think these days that PC prices and choice of software means
....that anything the mac can do the PC can do better.

though i love them wide screen laptops - why dont they make PCs like that?

i use a imac

photoshop, fireworks, dreamweaver all run effortlessly.

Mac OSX is based on free BSD and so with a bit of effort you can have access to most of what linux offers you.

I know of several serious developers who use macs for perl CMS development.

I just tend to use mine for graphics at the moment.

ah right, now we are getting somewhere

so would people recomend the mac over the pc for designing and developing web sites, and music etc

Design stage 1 - visualisation - MAC
Design stage 2 - html etc implementation - PC (as most people have pc's then best develop for pc browser versions)
Design stage 3 - backend development and hosting - LINUX (or MAC in order to use LINUX)
Mac hosting used to be the most secure as not many hackers could be bothered to try and crack it.

Mac's can come with some superior hardware, multiprocessor 64 bit etc before pc's had it.

I like Macs and Linux but could not do client work without a pc.

I have and use all three!
