Trying to research how much of a ball ache it would be to move to spain for a period and just run my UK business from there.

My accountant has gone on hols so I'm seeking other peoples experiences.

Does anyone here do this?

I simply want to know if I can rock up, rent a place and just get on with business as normal or whether I'm going to need to hire a spanish lawyer and get 2001 forms and permits filled in...

Can anyone share please?

Thanks, Tom

Trouble you might get is people thinking that sending money to Spain for goods or domains is a little bit dodgy and may avoid you. That's not specific to Spain, just any foreign country.

Tell me about it mate, it shouldn't be why are you going to Spain it should be why are the rest of us staying? :D

I have temporally run business's from within eu and outside relatively easily...? But other business have been quite complicated it really depends how its set up Limited, Sole trader etc , What you claim for in the home/ business premises rent, heating, travel, insurance and other liabilities etc, Do you employ staff in the uk, Do you take card payments..? Are you vat registered (VAT is normally payable in the country where the bill is paid not where the invoice is raised) Banking and exchange cost? Are you going to claim the same for Spain or both , Are you registering the company in the country of temporary residence ? How long you will be out of the country it can be a long list..?

HMRC will give you a basic outline but you would probably be best too talk to your accountant as they should know how your company set up..?

I can't see it making much of a problem if your leaving all of your UK accounts open and all your changing is where you are.

As mentioned above, I'm guessing the only issues might be if you try to claim for your villa with pool as a business expense!

i dont see why not. i did it (not to spain)

were all europeans now, no need for forms etc.etc.
