BREAKING!!! Another Day, Another Domain Industry Scandal

Evening Folks!!

In the hours/days ahead the Domain Industry will be rocked by yet another MAJOR scandal by a MAJOR industry company. It’s not my place to state what it is tonight. It will come out soon enough. I am not involved directly. We may all be involved indirectly and the ramifications are serious.

I have been reluctantly sitting on this story for more than 10 days now and what happened should NOT be coming from me and hope it does not. Either way the facts will be coming out tomorrow.

Business as usual will not survive 2011. Things will and must change.

Have a GREAT Day!
Rick Schwartz

Was reading it last night, no clue what he's on about, perhaps it has something to do with some of the big registrars?

Hey everybody I have a secret that I can't tell you about, but I'm telling you so that when it comes out you will know that I am the guy in the know.

Either way as long as you know that I know.

I don't know this Rick but I have heard of him and a lot of people think say he is not well liked, I can see why now. Just tell everyone what it is if it is that serious to others.

I don't think it will rock the .uk market so not really waiting with baited breath.

Sedo in court over infringment of TMs :p

Ooh how will we survive without them, surprised they havn't copied the likes of Comet yet and added a queuing system :D

Given the tone, I'd say its got to be some big company ripping off domainers rather than TM issues. Rick favours trafficz.com for parking, wonder if its got anything to do with them.

Hmm the word scandal leads me to think it's nothing but this guys own opinion going to come out.

Probably some crazy offer from one of his associates.

Negative/positive advertising type of thing.

Or some nonsense about domain price hikes.

It won't be Caz, it will be something if the scale of the Halvarez debacle IMO.

Might be a murder for a name, not seen one of them yet! Short of that nothing would surprise me from across the pond.

Rick Schwartz is a tit and unworthy of the adoration people give him. It is laughable he is the 'public face' of domaining to many.

Well, I'll go on record as saying I like the guy - yes, he is ego-made-man, and wants everyone to know his opinion, but when it comes to business I tend to listen hard to someone who is doing much better than me in the same arena.

If you were hand regging names in the 90's I am sure you would be doing ok :)

Would you be reinvesting in typo traffic and flowers.mobi? ;-)

I dont see alot of usable day to day stuff to the 'newbie' domainers who he tries to make out he is in some way responsible for, as long as they follow his methods...

I'd probably be investing in all sorts of things - some successful, some not.

Would you tell others to do the same, or clearly label it as speculation rather than investing?

Given Ricks History for 'Sensationalism' Whatever he's known for 10 days you can bet everyone and his mother knows about. except the minnows. (us)

So if no public quoted stock is in a seismic shift then I don't see the impact being anything too great.

He's just updated his blog. I can't believe he's made such a big deal about this incident. Who gives a shit?

In fairness to rick I do think it was worth the hype.

Privacy paid for or not should mean privacy. And the fact that an employee did what they did is terrible.

Moniker seem to have apologised and suspended the employee now though and guarantee that it was a one off. So although a grave concern I reckon the moniker statement ends it until the investigation is over.

If the injured party had a domain name let's say with his current employer with sucks.com on the end. Then although a bad breach of security I think it's hilarious he was found out and exposed.

Although worth the hype for his blog exposure we all knew it wasn't ground breaking.

This is a very big breach of trust - I assume there are various processes to go through to find the identity of a domain holder when that domain is under privacy 'protection'. And then for them to take those details to the guys boss...

For Moniker to sit on this until their hand was forced doesn't say much for them.
