Evening all,

Is anyone on here good with MySQL?

I have been supplied with Theme and SQL database. Whilst I can upload the theme to WP I cannot get my head around SQL. I have no idea about getting the database and getting the theme as its supposed too look?

Anyone think they can help me out and the likely cost please?

Full access can be provided to my hosting etc.

Thanks
James

If you have the .SQL file, go to your CPanel or Plesk hosting account. Create a blank database, create a database user, Grant All permissions of the user to the database. Go into the database using PhpMyAdmin. Look for the import function, choose your local SQL file on your PC, import.

Job done!

Should take 5, 10 mins max.

Hi that is the way to go.

If that hasn't worked for you, you may need to update the name of the database in your WP config file where WP is told what DB to access and what password to use. The DB name and username may have a prefix.

Also PHPmyadmin may hang if you upload a large .sql file for import.

I've always just installed Wordpress afresh, dropped the tables in that database and imported the old one. Never caused me any issues...

If the SQL file doesn't load back properly, check the 1st few statements, there may be a create database command, just comment out this line. Some SQL dumps will include a create database statement by default.

How about this, I'll get fixed for you and then you can give me what you think it's worth after? :)

Not good 'carte-blanche' advice. If someone read that, they might think they can do the same, when in fact they'd be deleting all their data.

'someone'... i.e. someone stumbling across the thread from, say, Google. It's generally not a good idea to advise dropping a database.
