Just wondering if anybody has seen many enquiries in recent weeks. I had hoped to see some activity / interest following the .uk launch but completely dead. Probably just my lack of premium domains as one other member I spoke to has been swamped with interest.

Please share your experiences.

What can you expect after Nominet's lacklustre and abysmal efforts to get it moving. I thought they might have had some weight in persuading some of the big guns to adopt but why bother - lets focus on a wonderous airport sign instead..

There is no 'real' market, other than that generated by this forum.

Maybe all the end users are trying to register the .UK domains and can't for the life of them understand why the registrations won't process?

Are any ISP's explaining to end users that they need to contact the .co.uk owners in these failed reg cases?

Could potentially cause portfolio owners to bleed a few sales (portfolio owners who aren't regging their .uk domains that is).

I get the impression that one issue (if there is an issue) may be that people who try and fail to get the .uk may then try and type in the .uk to see what happens - but I'm sure most of us haven't doubled down on our portfolios so the answer is "nothing at all happens". And at that point the slightly interested, vaguely potential buyer gives up and looks for a different domain.

That said, it's only been 4 days. Too early to talk of trends.

Also, Nominet's not been doing much to alert the 10,000,000 existing registrants yet. Once they start getting clued in, they may well cast around for other domains at the same time as securing their .uk (well, it's at least the time they're most likely to be thinking about "domains" rather than just minding their existing businesses) so that may bring some expressions of interest.

No upturn in enquiries (yet!)

I also do not own many full premium UK domains
but I do have a wide range of good 2 word .co.uk domains (about 7,000 ish)
and I do make sales often.

I have not had any upturn in .co.uk (or .uk) enquiries or sales
and nobody asking specifically any .uk which is linked to the .co.uk owned.

I'm currently trying to buy a .co.uk domain for £x,xxx (with .uk rights) and the seller
are saying they have had extra interest in this domain but they don't know why! (never sure in this industry if they are telling the truth),
domain words do not work any better as a .uk than a .co.uk.

I've had few sales but I've recently just had a case where a potential end user doesn't seem to understand the value a good domain brings. Basically I own the .co.uk and .uk equivalent of their current website, which operates on a .uk.net. So in this particular case they weren't even bothered that .uk is now out? The price was extremely fair and nothing for them if the cash amount on CompanyCheck.co.uk is accurate. Perhaps my sales skills just lack though..

About the same. I only see new buyers appearing if they have always hated .co being in the domain. All Nominet have done is pressed the photocopy button, a replication of the name space.

Conflicting advice will condition most end users thinking.

You not only owned the co.uk of their website you now own the .uk also :-x

Companies can get entrenched in resentment and would do anything rather than pay what they believe is a ransom for a beneficial domain.

It's best to concentrate on the astute who are more rationally calculated.
