Ive just installed a new router. My laptop detects and connects to the wifi signal no problem, as does my work laptop.
Mrs Pendragon's laptop detcts other signals in the area but not our one. Even my PSP can connect. Any idea what could be wrong with the wife's? She's giving me earache for changing it!

silly question, but have you tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it. Not disabling it, but in system > hardware. Uninstall & reboot and let it reinstall itself. Sometimes the stuff you add for security, like WEP etc can confuse it.

Was the old router set for 11.b and 11.g and the new one just set for 11.g? I had a similiar issue with a client who had an old laptop and is secretary had a newer one.

uninstalling what?

Glad to help :)

If ever you need a diagnostic discovery tool for WIFI download Network Stumbler it gives you a lot more information than Windows does about the WIFI signals you are receiving.

Most APs are set to 11 so your new one must be conflicting with another close by with the same settings.

For fun, run NS on your laptop and drive down the road, you can then sort what it finds by unsecured connections, amazing how WIFI connections you will pick up and surprising many homes have no security at all over their systems
