All day i've been trying to change nameservers. All day i've been getting the following :-

A System Error has occurred
Engine: Operation failed (Lookup failed)

Please click the back button on your browser

It simply isn't good enough.

I have made changes via the web interface more than 3 days ago which have yet to take effect and more than that - some changes i had made hadn't even "stuck" in their own system.

My contention is that they're not fulfilling the requirements of a registrar and as such Nominet should do something, however Nominet is not receptive to my requests for action.

I don't think there is a registrar that is totally without issues. I feel the same about 123-reg and have never had any issues with ukreg, whereas others are the opposite. I don't think you have much choice other than get your own tag and a decent admin system for it. (see caught.co.uk) Although I haven't used it personally.:D

Hey'll vouch for your own tag and caught.co.uk. Makes life very simple

Nom email you with all renewals etc so, provided you have ALL your domains on one tag, you shoudln;t have any issues over renewal dates.

To be honest UKReg used to the dog's - in the last 6 months I have had continual problems with their system, then the whole network hack and then password fiasco and the fact that you cannto do bulk changes to anything (meaning you have to go in and out of 5 different screens to administer each domain...)

So I decided to move all 500 i had there on to my own tag where I can do bulk nameserver changes, renewals, mods etc.

S'easy! :D

You lucky then - i rang up after having an email ignored and was told they can't do...

So right arm doesn't know what left arm is doing or what it can even do given half a chance!!!

I might have to email again ....

I just had Streamline dot Net refuse to host affiliate store software due to "security issues" they sent three different invoices with different charges for hosting then tried to refund me the wrong amount! Current Hosting companies appear to have a monopoly at the moment. One Day Soon they will be wiped out by one decent Company with some form of effective Customer Support.

What would it cost for me to have a decent home server for my domains?
Any ideas guy's?

Hey I am afraid you get what you pay for - since I got servers with Rackspace I have never had a problem, get 0800 access to support 24 hours a day and they sort tickets usually within the hour...

So for 30% more cost, if you need help and value support - they are worth considering... and no I don;t work for them
