All you can eat for £10 ?

Just playing with an idea. Im not really interested in stockpiling domains but am let down by the addiction of drop catching them

Would there be any interest in a drop catching service where I charge £10 regardless of what the domain is?

Well the true cost would be £10 + you also pay the registration fee (£5 +vat)

*total cost per name is £15.87

However this would only be viable to me if you wish to register say 5 names or more per week and hopefully I would have X amount of folks registering 5+ per week. If it was less then that it would'nt be worth my time. As we know there isnt that many fantastic names that drop so you would also have to go for middle of the road / lower value type names to make up your quota. But you are welcome to try for any high value names and I would not be reserving those.

I would also supply comprehensive droplists say 7 days in advance so you would have ample time to check them for OV score etc.

I think I would need atleast 6 customers to make it worth my time. So if I get less interest then that I would have to knock it on the head.

Going by your stated numbers... Assuming 5 domains regged per week at £10 each, and 6 customers, I make that around £1,200 a month.

Does that mean that you'd be willing to sell e.g. half the daily slots for £600?

I wouldnt be prepared to register 5+ a week but I would pay £20 a pop.

Thats really what I dont want.

I dont want to compete with dropcatcher but to have bulk buyers. Registering 5 domains is the minimum ideally they would be more serious.

Couple of points I should clear up...

# Names would go on a first come first served basis.

# If your only after prime names this wont work for you.

# No contract, purely a verbal agreement.

# There will prob be a trial period of say two months, really a get out of clause for both me and you.

# Initially it will be pretty much a manual process, ie you email me what you want and I email you back. If I think its a viable thing then I will write some scripts to make it more user friendly.

# All domains will be registered in your name or company.

All I can think of for the moment.

Would you provide us with a list of the ones dropping on .co.uk only or would your provide other extensions as well?

Hi Paul I will supply daily droplists approx 1000 names per day seven days in advance, this will not be public information only those signed up will have access to them.

I only catch .uk's (.co.uk .me.uk and .org.uk)

Droplists would only have those in them.

Just an update ...

Been running for a month now and have caught 200 names for customers in that time.

I have been busy starting to script a backend and will in the near future launch it properly as a public drop catching service.

Iam offering two types of catching services both on a no win no fee basis, no money upfront will invoice you.

1. Bulk catching based on 5 names per week £15.87 per name

2. One of catches, any number £30 per name
