My portfolio was forcibly moved over from dan.com to afternic, I have only dealt with them as a buyer before, never a seller.

I had what appears to be a cold offer on a domain, I say cold because it was for the minimum offer.

A broker has contacted me tho, so I assumed they would have a remit, or some sort of working brief from the buyer like any other broker.

Nope, they know nothing.

Do afternic pick up every offer made to turn it into a brokerage and take a fee ?

Whose end does this expense come from ?

Do you ever actually negotiate with the buyer or are they always in the middle ?

I am far from impressed at this point.

I have had a few brokers contact me to say they have had a price requests and ask me to update the prices then they will ask the buyer there budget :). I am at the point now i just ignore them and wait and see if any offers come in.

I havent sold any domains through afternic bte at the moment.

We've definitely had less offers after moving over to afternic compared to dan. I think it doesn't help that you can't search afternic directly, you have to do via godaddy which shows you all kinds of other junk as well. Don't get me wrong, showing the domains on godaddy was great, but we used to have that in addition to the dan search.

As a buyer I find it annoying as well, because if I'm after a domain for a specific project I used to be able to check what was FTR, then go to dan (and sedo etc..) and see what there was available on the aftermarket.

Now if I want something that might be on afternic you have to just do a general search on godaddy and it chooses to show you random TLDs or variations of the domain rather than what's for sale.

Here's a real world example - if I search for "footballbetting" in godaddy, it shows me:

footballbet.co.uk
footballbetting.ai
footballbetting.sucks
thefootballbetting.co.uk

and so on.

If you go and search the old Dan it shows you:

footballbetting.com

That's a pretty dang big difference in result.

This sounds exactly what I have gotten.

It sounds like they have had someone on the domain listing, but they have bottled out, so now the broker is trying to convert a cold lead.

The equivalent of when you move your mouse to close the tab and a discount code pops up.

It's just bizarre.

That is a killer. Any time I have bought of them it's going from the domain lander, so haven't searched.

It's crazy they don't have a search engine tho.

I can see my time on afternic being very short, especially after the somewhat arsey reply I sent haha.
