I just went to sign up with Affiliate Window, you have to pay £5 during registration, but they declined our card. It has Visa listed amongst the cards they accept, but ours is only Visa Electron, and it wont accept that, just says card declined when I try it, so I can't register there

Does anyone know an affiliate providor who will let me register using a Visa Electron card, or better still, not have to provide card details in order to register?

The only other requirement is that the affiliate site needs to have Evans Cycles, Wiggle and Halfords listed as their retailers, otherwise it's of no use to me, cheers.

I think Aff window are about the only network that requires you to pay on registration although not sure if the merchants you refer to will be on other networks.

Might be worth contacting their support (always found them helpful), see if there is another way of paying (eg by cheque).

@ Dave, thanks for the advice, with a bit of luck this will be resolved today, as I received a couple of PM's from members offering to help me out with registration, thanks to those for the help offered

[edit]

All sorted now, they just need to review my application and hopefully accept it :)

I got an email today accepting me as an affiliate, but I've already hit a problem, I went to the deep link builder section, and the 3 retailers I want to use are not listed in the drop dow list, I assume that means they don't allow deep linking for their products, my only option was to deep link html links, I'm just looking at the widget tool, but that doesn't look suitable at all

[edit]

The widget tool is total cack as well, doesn't give anything for bike and bike frames apart from little pink kids bike and other associated crap, ffs.

Select your list of merchants, select say halfords, select the green links button, select text from menu options on rigth hand side is a link for deep link builder. It works for Halfords not tried the others, as far as I know it works for all AW merchants.

EDIT: Are you sure you are approved for the merchants, they may be in a pending state if only just joined.

@ Redbird, I can't do anything yet as my request to join Evans Cycles and Wiggle are pending, but I'll try what you suggested if I get accepted, cheers.

I'm an affiliate of both Wiggle and Evans and can confirm once you're approved they will both work.

Evans are exclusively with aff window I think. I use their feed on the site in my sig, along with wiggle and sbr sports.

Wiggle seems to convert better but only 1% on bikes and evans are 5%

@ FagEnd, yes, 1% on Wiggle for full bikes, 2% for bike frames, and 5% for anything else. Evans give 5% on eveything and Halfords now give 6% on bikes and bike accessories, up from the previous 5% that it gave.

I'll need to get the halfords feed included on my bike sites.

Shoulda kept the bike domains I sold last week :)

Another question, when registering with AW you have to give them your domain name, I entered one of my bike domains, when I click to join a merchant, I assume they have access to see what my domain name is?

If so, what happens if I want to sell cameras, computers or anthing else, those retailers are going to see I have a bike domain, so they're not likely to let me join them, how exactly does this work, looked around my AW account and I can't see anywhere to add other domains to my account, it only has space for the one current bike domain.

Been having this issue with AW for a while. The merchant only sees the url and your description. I was being declined from a lot for this very reason.

I have started to use the description area to explain I have many sites and if I have applied to promote them then I will have a site related to their products/services and contact me for more info.

@ FagEnd, it seems mind numbingly stupid that a site as big as AW would not have an option to add other domains for retailers to see, why don'y they do that, it's bloody stupid  I'll add a note to my description box, cheers.

log into your account, click on update account details (on right), click promotional then put your sites in the description box as that is where all the merchants look to see what sites you are building. the more info you put in there the better chance you have of being accepted.

if a merchant does decline you email them straight away to ask why as ive learned if you dont bother other merchants will think your not bothered also, so by contacting them for an explanation will help you more understand what merchants are looking at.

@ Paullas, do merchants actually email you when they decline you, or does it just say declined in your account and you have to contact them? Can merchants see which other merchants have declined you?

if you get declined you must email them to ask why. concerning declines, im sure there is something in the merchants sections where they can see who has been declined/accepted from what but dont quote me on that..

Received 2 emails this morning, I've been accepted by Evans Cycles and Wiggle :D

I deleted the affiliate site I was working on that I was going to use with those retailers, so I started yet another one last night, I was up until 6:00am this morning trying to put a new site together, this one looks a lot better, got the home page and products page done, just need to copy the products page multiple times and add the text and image for each product, then I can deep link to them and get it online, might take a few days to get it finished if I spend all day on it.

I think rather than go mad and make a site with literally hundreds and hundreds of pages, which would take forever, and by the time I finish it, no doubt some of the products might no longer be available, so I might start with 50 products just to get it online, then add some more each day to build it up gradually.
