Could anyone tell me if a .com drops in the same way as a .co.uk and when it would drop after it expires.

Thanks
Norman

"NOT AT ALL OR ANYTHING SIMILAR" is the basic answer.

Depends on the domain service holding the domain registration - dropping use to be after 45 days but virtually any domain worthwhile will be brought in by that service or it's 'Premium' reselling partner service (renewed by them and retaining the registration history)

if it's any good your quite unlikely to see it on a drop - As I said it depends on the registration service that currently holds the domain.

If it's a "brandable" domain with no or low traffic you may get a bite at it

Thanks Bailey
The registrares are dyn.com and it is not a great domian but was a busy website until they dropped the website about 2 years ago.

go to snapnames.com and book a catch with them $69

they are about the best there is at the moment, no catch no pay.......so you can stop checking the who-is and sit back, if it drops they'll get it.

that is way too optimistic, there are many .com catchers besides snapnames

just a bit of advice based upon historical personal drops.

did you list the other catchers !

i'm not up to date with the most current catchers, but here are a few

pool.com
godaddy
namejet
namwinner
enom
domainmonster

Paul,

if Norman is serious about acquiring a particular name then a sweeping statement like this

go to snapnames.com and book a catch with them $69

they are about the best there is at the moment, no catch no pay.......so you can stop checking the who-is and sit back, if it drops they'll get it.

is very poor advice.

I know you meant well, but you stated that it would be a given that snapnames would catch the domain.

Don't bother with the Godaddy catching service unless you think nobody else wants the name. Godaddy are not as fast as Snap or Pool and with Godaddy you have to pay even if they do not get the name, though you can then re-assign the fee to catching another domain later. Godaddy is cheaper than the others, though.

Thanks Guy's for all your advice the domain expires in August so plenty of time to add it to the catchers.

All the best
Norman
