How does the advanced bid section work? I can see some are accepting bids, but it doesn't say when the auction ends? I think they are waiting for the owner to "start", but surely this could never happen, or happen 1 year down the line?

Once again, sorry if this is a stupid question

The idea is that you bid on whichever dropping domain you're interested in in an attempt to tempt whoever catches it to send it to auction. Obviously, whether the auction happens or not is down to the person that catches the domain.

Auctions will end within 5-7 days, once started and depending on the quality of the name.

Advance bids are usually always placed on dropping names, typically within a week of the scheduled drop date. Lots of catchers (inc. DomainLore's DomainCatch members) monitor names with advance bids. Any name with an advance bid will have lots of catchers going after it as it is a quick flip and guaranteed sale.

I'd hazard a guess that is you place an advanced bid on DL, there's a 55-70% chance that it will be caught and resold via their (DL's) auction platform.

Hope that makes sense.

Ahh OK. So they probably drop a domain after 7 days or so of it not being posted to auction?

They sell to the highest bidder in that section, as they don't ever go "live" do they? ie: i see no active bidding and I know they are not moved over to the "gems" or premium section.

Thanks for the info.

I don't think you understood.

People prebid on domainlore to show interest, a catcher can just look at domainlore prebids and see all the domains they would at very least sell for £50, then they can put them on domainlore (on the spotlight or gem auction wherever it's accepted) for a quick profit.
