This bug has been needling me for a while - not a big one but still...
Does anyone have the issue that after logging in, you are taken to the homepage but the login box is still there (and you still can't access some forums until you go to a none homepage page which acknowledges you're logged in, and will then allow you to visit other forum pages on acorn)

A little tricky to explain but I think that there is an issue with the cookie being held or seen immediately after loggin in.

I only have to login once but after logging in I must first visit a non-homepage page, for me to be seen on the homepage as having logged in.

This issue may be limited to people using FF3 on Mac which is my setup...

*sorry this post probably needs to be moved to the acorn feedback forum

Yep same bug here, so your not alone or going mad and yes I use FF too so might be that.

Also sometimes I login but says my details are incorrect (even though i know they are ok) and then if I click a link lets me in as normal.

But it's just the norm now so not a huge issue but yes it is a niggle.

Thanks Gold - it does make me feel better that I'm not the only one!
I think that this happened after the forum skin was changed a few times so I think that the bug is probably to do with a bit of code maybe being deleted from the header or headerinclude template in the vBulletin files...

I agree though - not a big problem.

Just click on the 'AcornDomains.co.uk' logo, at the top of every page...

This bug is caused by incorrect configuration on the Acorn forum side.

Login authorization cookie is being set either for www.acorndomains.co.uk or acorndomains.co.uk instead of a wild-card of *.acorndomains.co.uk

Therefore if you type acorndomains.co.uk and log-in, then you get redirected to www.acorndomains.co.uk and it does not recognize you authenticated.

A simple way for Admin to fix this is to add 301 redirect in .htaccess file in the webroot (this will also help for SEO as www.acorn and without 'www' are considered different domains with duplicate content):

RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^acorndomains\.co\.uk$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.acorndomains.co.uk/$1 [L,R=301]

No more bug

Works for me !!! i no longer have to click on home.
Thanks Admin for the little change that makes a big difference !

I wish I had mentioned this a couple of months ago now!
Good work vizzy

click remember me when you log in and then click home and you should be ok

No Takwa, that wasn't the issue.

Vizzy fixed the cookie issue that was there across the acorndomains.co.uk and http://-www.acorndomains.co.uk domains.

remember me - I always told it to remember me - that was the frustrating thing. I'm a happy domainer again!
