Hi Guys, looking to get active on this site over the next few days or so - Honestly didn't know about it until last year.

Anyway following on from Edwins thread. I'm in agreement that technology domains tend to have a bigger market interest at the launch/release of products. The park page for 3dtv.co.uk has only in the last month had genuine products listed.

Appreciate thoughts on value for 3dtv.co.uk

Thanks

Take it off parking with the other 774,290 other sites on the same server before Google sticks it in the shit pile along with so many other parked domains....

Same as my opinion on Edwin's thread really - I think I reffed this name there?

Nice name though.

Well, it's the best possible domain for promoting 3D TV in the UK, so obviously it has substantial value.

Rgds

I've never promoted any UK domains - so i am very much new to this end of the 'sales' market. - hopefully finding my feet to make some reasonable sales.

Hi JMOT,

I am a bit lost with this one are you saying parking it is not a good idea or it is where you park it?

I'm confused. Do you own 3dtv.co.uk? If so, please PM me. Thanks!

Yes the domain is registered to me. Will reply to your PM shortly

Hi JMOT,

Both. You leave a domain on domainsponsor or sedo etc for too long and its a biyatch to get them ranking again properly. Takes ages :(

I was under the impression that google is rather good at recognising when a site has been moved from a parking page.

Anyway, great name, good luck with it.

Yes, sorry for throwing the thread off topic....

Yes the domain is registered to me.

It will depend on what you want to do with the domain. You will struggle to get a valuation here as quite a few members would probably like to purchase the domain at a bargain price!!

If its any help Edwin listed 3dtelevision/co/uk and 3dtelevisions/co/uk for sale at £11k, then withdrew them as he though there was more value in them down the line. I personally think yours is a better name

Are you looking to sell? Then an auction on sedo will gather the greatest interest and best price. You could also auction here but would get a wholesale/reseller price rather than a potential end user price

Are you looking to develop or sell later when the technology matures? Then as noted above don't park it, put a one page site up which will let the domain age and make it either a) easier to rank for the term 3d tv or b) make it a more attractive purchase for an end user. Domainseller200/Frank on this forum who I rate very highly for seo tends to put a one page like this on his sites pre sale/devlopment like this - click here

I agree that it's a better name, though Edwins name are great to. 3dtv.co.uk is clearly the best possible domain name for 3DTV's in the .co.uk market. For what it's worth personally I think selling it at this time would be an absolutely terrible idea, as the market is just revving up. As for value, I don't think it would make sense to sell it for less than £25,000 , and the potential value, I believe is much higher.

Thank you all for sharing your thoughts. It was the recent posts made here on 3D that made me realise there's a good handle and understanding on the UK market on AcornDomains - Somehow I'd missed it.

I do have a pretty good understanding on gtlds so hopefully I can add something to the discussions.

It's likely that I will push this one to auction.

I'd hold it for a while. Putting to auction or selling now is too early given the likely commercial success and mainstreaming of 3dtv.

Keep your powder dry mate

Too early to sell but don't sit on it too long because at the end of the day its what you might call a fadgeneric.co.uk and fads pass. I bet there are many many fadgeneric holders who missed the boat with sales by overvaluing and refusing to sell.

HD3DTV .co.uk

Hello chaps,

I blew the chance of starting my own thread by writing my 'hello' in the introdutions area so I'll piggy back on this one instead of hanging around for 24 minutes!

I guess it's much the same outlook for this domain (hd3dtv) although obviously mine is much narrower as is not the category killer.

If anyone can take a punt at appraisal, I'd be much obliged.

Thanks for your consideration.

Best wishes,
Daniel

BTW, it's interesting that if you Google "3d tv" you get bolded results for "3d tv" but also for "3d television". If you Google "3d television" you get bolded results for "3d television" but also for "3d tv". In other words, Google understands that "3d tv" = "3d television" and highlights search results accordingly. On the other hand, the sites that show up for the 2 searches are slightly different!

From a business perspective... 3DTV is very hot at the moment and well, no one really knows whether in 2 or 3 years we're all going to be bothered wearing glasses when we watch the TV..... Personally I think it's not going to be as 'great' as the hype would have you believe... so for what it's worth, I think the best time to sell this will be as the first 3D TV's enter the market... my prediction is that it will be another Betamax / Video Laser Disc....

Just a thought..... Good Luck!

... nice domain though... very jealous!

Will
