I've previously posted about 1and1 invoicing for domains that they are not the registrar for.
Every week for the past 2 months, I've received 20 or so invoices through the post from them, followed up by email after email (I removed my card details some time ago so they havent been able to take payment).
They have been invoicing for domains I sold over 20 months ago and that were transferred away to 123-reg at the time of sale.
On numerous occasions, I have told 1and1 this, to both billing and complaints. They insist they are doing no wrong.
Even though the domain names were transferred away (tag change) and nominet transferred, the domain names in question remained in my 1and1 control panel.
1and1 insist this was not a glitch, and that the contracts were current and good.
I eventually threatened to hand the matter over to my solicitor and acused them of harrassment in a roundabout way.
As a gesture of goodwill, they offered to reduce the outstanding amount by 50% to £150. I told them where to go.
This week they have threatened me with their debt collectors and a £15 admin charge on every domain name in question.
123-Reg, the true registrar (and through whom the names were recently renewed) have provided me with details proving the names were transferred to them almost 2 years ago.
I have let 1and1 know this. No further response from them yet, but if they persist, I'll be persuing harrassment and recovery of associated legal costs.
My advice to you all .... delete you card details and check every dealing you have with them. I wonder how many false renewals they have charged people for in the past and got away with.
