Anyone else had grief using 123-reg.co.uk ???
I reg'd a domain over a week ago and it doesn't appear in my control panel.
Numerous ignored mails to them and they finally reply today saying it is in a 123-reg user login!!!! Well it's not in mine so I hope the person who has it parks it and makes some money as I can't :( . Anyone recommend any decent registration alternatives. I used UKREG previously.

I have reg'd about 5 in the last week and no problem with any of them, though i am still waiting for my refund for a .eu that they failed to register!

I emailed them a couple of times and ended up ringing them.
Straightaway they sorted out names into my control panel.
said that they had a problem if the names were previously regged with 123 reg, dont know whether this is true or not.
Had replies to emails about a week after sending saying what is the problem as names in my control panel.
Seems phone folk dont speak to email folk.

I got a .co.uk with them that doesn't have a change DNS or IPS TAG option in the CP. Mailed them about it but no response.
Another example of how anything PIPEX touches turns to sh*t. They have a kind of brown version of the Midas touch.

Ah 123-reg, my favourite subject! At the moment I've got no problems with them but I have noticed over the last six months that their control panel software just doesn't seem to work sometimes (in my case .co.uk renewals), I always have to end up emailing them for it to be done manually.

Now I'm no expert in customer service but I would have thought that if they made an effort to fix their dodgy scripts first, then far less people would have the need to contact them, thus freeing them up to enable them to respond to other emails within a 24 hour period. Surely it's common sense.

I agree, it is so frustrating when it drops out and you have to wait for a week (and after 3 or more emails) to get it put right.

I recently regged a name and received endless notices telling me it was about to expire if I didn't renew it. Took them 2 weeks to put it right.

123 reg

...and what about expired domains on your domain list....annoying having domains showing up on list of domains held..that have let expire...has 123reg any interest in clients who hold hundreds of domains and renew them ,giving extra businness at increased price.....begining to feel like mug for nearly 5 years custom and thousands of pounds spent .....z

Thanks all. I'm obviously not alone.
They finally replied and sorted the problem.
Excuse was
"Due to the release of the .eu domains our response time has been affected, my apologies for the delay in getting back to you."

If i'd posted in the right section I would of seen threads already started about them! :???:

Is there not some kind of Nominet rules they can be reported against for messing up this bad? At least a threat of a fine or similar may kick them into shape.

Woohoo, 3 days later and I get a response, unfortunately it has nothing to do with the actually problem I'm having and they are trying to charge me for their mistakes.
Although I'm now used to the 5 support requests until they get it right kinda thinking now. You never know they may fix it before the domain goes up for renewal again!

The email response I had said that this was the problem so I can only assume it is true.

To add insult to injury, 123-reg have just been added to the Spamhaus DNSBL so if you use them as your DNS or MX servers you will be blacklisted by many spam filters in the URISBL test.
I wouldn't mind if their control panel wasn't so shafted that I can't move my primary domain or change its DNS servers
See http://www.spamhaus.org/SBL/sbl.lasso?query=SBL43908 for more information.

After my many letters and emails to PIPEX they are de-listed from Spamhaus.

My initial problem is still outstanding though. As stated in one of the letters to them (and several emails), they have until Friday to fix it or I will take further action. Probably starting with making everything very public (some of what they have admitted they probably don't want making public).

Anyone have a pipexsux or 123sux or something they want to publish stories on?

woohoo! 123-reg phoned me today after getting my letter, they have apologised and fixed the CP so I can change tag/dns :)

I am STILL waiting for a re-fund for an .eu they failed Reg, I have e-mailed them about 5-6 times, and recieved varied reply's, but the last one said

" Hi, The domain internationalfootball.eu on invoice ***-********* was registered to you and I can see it in your control panel.
Regards,

Danny 123-reg Support "

Yep he is right it is in my control panel, so are about 10 other names that i have since sold and transfered to other 123-accounts. the .eu named appeared in my control panel as soon as i paid for the registration, though they had not yet aquired it for me, I ended up registering it with GoDaddy.

If they bothered to check the who is records they would have seen that.

Oh well i guess i'll just wait for the next idoiotic reply.

ps. How easy is to transfer about 150 names from 123-reg to another registra without incuring any cost's?

The letter I sent them (with the domain and tag blanked out) can be seen at the following link:
http://www.a-wing.co.uk/123reg.pdf

Maybe you should send something similar as that got a response withing 2 working days of them receiving it.

The easier way for you to do 150 domains in a transfer from 123 is probably via. Fax.
