Hans Niemann vs. You: The Largest AI-Powered Online Chess Battle, created by it.com Domains in partnership with the Web Summit and World Chess, has been honored as a Platinum Winner at the MUSE Creative Awards—the highest level of recognition in the competition.
Hans Niemann, one of the world’s leading grandmasters, played against the AI-assisted World Team on November 13, 2024, in an interactive match at the Web Summit in Lisbon, Portugal. The game attracted 106,638 participants from 132 countries, breaking the record for the largest online game with 60,000 opponents held by Viswanathan Anand. The match lasted 42 minutes and consisted of 71 moves. Hosted on the custom-built chess.it.com platform, the match was open to all, supported by an AI assistant that helped the “World Team” strategize in real time.
This game showed how technology can enhance player engagement and accessibility, paving the way for interactive competitions that unite players around the world. The combination of traditional chess and modern technology will transform the way we experience this timeless game.



The MUSE Creative and Design Awards, presented by the International Awards Associate (IAA), recognize outstanding achievements in creativity and design across various industries. MUSE honours innovative projects that break boundaries, set new standards, and inspire audiences around the world.
In 2025, the MUSE Creative and Design Awards received entries from some of the most renowned organizations in the world, including Aedas, Ralph Appelbaum Associates, Stanley 1913, Miramar Group, FILA SPORTS CO., LTD., Geely Design, Hyundai MOBIS and many others.
The jury consisted of 57 experienced professionals from 19 countries including Jeremy Smith, Design Director and Lecturer at Irving Smith Architects, Florian Seidl, Design Manager at Lavazza, Xiyao Wang, Deputy Director at KOHN PEDERSEN FOX ASSOCIATES PC, and other respected professionals who are driving the creative and design industries forward.
