Recently, quite a few 'premium' domains here are on domainlore for £50.. what does that say about AD's moderation process, I mean is there really any point in having a premium section now?

I don't think there is a clear line anymore with the .uk market as to what a premium is considered as. You have your Super premiums which quite obviously sell for reasonable amounts.

But then you have everything else which is hit and miss, I mean what did database.co.uk end up selling for a couple of months back on DL ? £3000 ? Nice ( what i would call premium ) whether it be for branding or commercial database creation etc.

Would you put that in the same bracket for example as lotterysyndicate.co.uk which recently sold for £5 ? I certainly wouldnt and i doubt it put lotterysyndicate in a premium section here.... but thats where i think many people here are engrossed in snobbery of sorts. DL and the reseller market is an enemy to its self for prices of UK domains imo.

Don't forget you are now charged to submit a domain to the premium section which may to an extent skew what is perceived as 'premium'.

LotterySyndicate.co.uk just sold for £4.6k

This is false. There is no charge to have a domain listed here. To humble pie, most domains are rejected. Sorry if I occassionally allow a domain that one person doesn't think is premium, that is going to happen as it is subjective. If you would like to offer to give me your expert opinion on future cases, I'm ready to receive it.

FWIW, from recent domains listed in the premium section, my opinions would be:

NOT premium:

labelling.co.uk
cors.co.uk
laptopcomputer.co.uk
bicycleholidays.co.uk
porn.org.uk
sumo.co.uk
affluent.co.uk
spidersolitaire.co.uk
enchanted.co.uk
goblets.co.uk

POSSIBLY premium-ish:

rugbyunion.co.uk
kickboxing.co.uk
arran.co.uk
rhyl.co.uk
spread.co.uk
chicago.co.uk

DEFINITELY premium:

tobacco.co.uk
burlesque.co.uk
grub.co.uk
fl.co.uk

Thanks Martin, that's useful. Although I am sure we would all make that list differently.

Then I must have missed something here, because when I submitted tobacco and supplies to the premium section, you accepted tobacco but then messaged me to say I must pay a monthly contribution to add more? Maybe some kind of miscommunication, but appeared clear at the time?

It was a personal message Ian ;). To reiterate, there are no fees per post in any section of AD.

Indeed, but still requested payment which is where my confusion came in. It has stopped me advertising premiums since, but good to know I can again. Thanks for the clarification.

Spread, Kickboxing, Chicago only possibly premium!? Did you not see recent sales? :p

Just seen the latest entry. Wouldn't even pay the renewal fee and I doubt many people on here would.

Really, a video equivalent of piratebay ?

OK, I'll buy this feedback, thread deleted.
